Akram A. Awad Partner
Mr. Akram A. Awad focuses on Corporate Transactions and Litigation (trial and appellate).
Mr. Awad received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from UCLA in 1988. In 1992, Mr. Awad earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California. While at Loyola, in 1992, Mr. Awad published in the school's prestigious Entertainment Law Journal: The Litigation of the America's Cup Runneth Over With Inconsistencies.
After completing his legal studies, Mr. Awad worked from 1992 to 1996 as a deputy attorney general for the Department of Justice in Los Angeles, where he prosecuted approximately 200 felony appeals for the state of California.
In 1996, Mr. Awad left his career at the Attorney General's office to further his studies at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In, 1998, Mr. Awad earned his Master in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. In the summer of 1998, Mr. Awad traveled to Cairo, Egypt, his native country, and worked as in-house counsel and a corporate strategy specialist for the recently privatized Al-Ahram Beverages Company, known locally as Stella Beer Corporation.
After returning to Los Angeles in the late summer of 1999, Mr. Awad co-founded Awad & Awad LLP in Los Angeles, California with his brother and partner, Amgad.
In addition to his academic and legal pursuits, Mr. Awad serves (and has served) on numerous boards of directors for organizations including Coptic Legal Foundation, a non-profit legal aid organization he co-founded with his brother, Amgad.
Mr. Awad, who also grew up in the southern California area, is also conversant in Arabic and a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
